March 13-17

Science/Social Studies: We will finish our unit on the Civil War this week.

Language Arts: We will begin using a nonfiction reader, The War of 1812. The War of 1812 is important historically as it was the first foreign conflict that the United States faced as a young nation. We will be learning to use a glossary to better understand the text we are reading. We will also be learning about note-taking. We will focus on Francis Scott Key and the National Anthem.

Math: We will begin our unit on Money and Time. This is a great time to practice coin recognition with your student and help them learn the value of each coin. We will be learning to find the total value of a group of money.

We will have 20 words this week. We will only be tested on the ten words marked *. The spelling test will be on Friday. The other words show up in our reading during the week. Please take time to read them and be familiar with them.
