February 21-24

Science/Social Studies: We have completed our study of insects and will begin learning about the U.S. Civil War. Students will be introduced to this important period in the history of the United States. We will learn about the controversy over slavery between the North and the South, which eventually led to the U.S. Civil War. We will also learn about some women and men who made significant contributions during this time, including Harriet Tubman, Clara Barton, Abraham Lincoln, Ulysses S. Grant, and Robert E. Lee.

Math: We will continue with Chapter 6, 3-digit addition and subtraction.

Our spelling words this week end in either the letters 'le', 'el, or 'tion'. The spelling test will be on Friday. We will only be tested on the words marked with *. The other words show up in our reading during the week. Please take time to read them and be familiar with them.
