In spelling this week we will review short voewel words. We will also spell long vowel words with silent e.
We will be making pattern snakes in math. We will also continue to learn addition strategies.
We will have a special guest from SUU to show us some "cool science." We will do rock centers at the end of the week.
Recipe for a Crystal
Materials:
Tuna can
1 T ammonia
1/4 cup salt
1/4 cup laundry bluing
1/4 cup water
coal furnace clinkers (or bbq briquettes)
food coloring
Rinse clinkers and put them in the tuna can. Mix ammonia, salt, laundry bluing, and water. Pour mixture over the clinkers. Sprinkle more salt on top of clinker. Add a few drops of food coloring.
Recipe for a Volcano
Materials:
bud vase
1/4 cup hydrogen peroxide
2 tsp. yeast
Mix peroxide and yeast in the bud vase. (The eruption is slow and will spill out over the sides.)
